Editorial Policy
Our readers make real decisions about their families' money based on what we publish. This policy explains the standards we hold ourselves to.

Our purpose
Every guide must help a parent take a clear next step. If an article cannot pass that test, we do not publish it.
How we research
- We prefer primary sources: regulators, government agencies, official program rules and published data.
- We state when a figure depends on your state, provider, plan or income.
- Each guide lists the sources it relies on so you can verify anything yourself.
Review and fact checking
Drafts are reviewed by a second member of the editorial team before publication. We check figures, dates, program rules and whether every claim is supported by the sources cited.
Updates
Guides covering rules that change — contribution limits, tax treatment, program eligibility — are reviewed at least once a year. Every guide shows both its published and last-updated date.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change. Email hello@parentpenny.com or use our contact form to report an error.
Independence from advertisers
Advertisers and affiliate partners have no input into our editorial content, rankings or opinions. We do not accept payment for favorable coverage. Sponsored content and affiliate placements are labeled wherever they appear — see our Affiliate Disclosure.
